At the Grocery Shop

How it works

1) Request

There are three ways to make a request:

  1. Fill out the Request a Delivery form. We will intake your request and begin coordinating with a healthy volunteer in your area. Most requests are processed within 24-48 hours, depending on your area and volunteer availability.
  2. Call 615-447-8260 and one of our volunteers will return your call within 24 hours to get more details about your request.

  3. Send an email to requests@covidhelpnashville.com with details about your request.

2) Coordinate

Wait for a phone call from the volunteer who’ll be completing your delivery. They will confirm your exact needs and preferences, as well as coordinate a convenient delivery time.

3) Reimburse

You can pay for the cost of your items in one of three ways:

  1. Call the store in advance to place your order, or make an online order, and pay with your credit card ahead of time (be sure to let them know someone else will be picking it up on your behalf!);

  2. Reimburse your volunteer (via PayPal, Venmo, Cash app, Zelle or check) after they pick up your items.

  3. Provide your volunteer with cash before they complete the order;

  4. Listen for your door as your volunteer completes a no-contact drop-off and steps at least 6 feet away from your door. Your receipt will be in the bag. That’s it!

4) Wait

Listen for your door as your volunteer completes a no-contact drop-off and steps at least 6 feet away from your door. Your receipt will be in the bag. That’s it!

Our Protocol

Health and Safety Guidelines

We’ve implemented the following safety guidelines to minimize any potential transmission of the novel coronavirus. However, not every COVID-19 carrier is symptomatic, and we can’t completely eliminate risk.

Every one of our volunteers confirm that they:

  • Are not exhibiting any signs of compromised health (e.g. runny nose, cough, fever, etc.);

  • Have not come in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 14 days;

  • Have not traveled out of the country in the last 14 days;

  • Have been practicing social distancing.

We require volunteers to wear masks during deliveries, and recommend that they avoid touching unnecessary items, as well as utilize self-checkout options where available. Volunteers are instructed to take every CDC-approved safety precaution, including:

  • Washing hands frequently with soap and water for a minimum of 20 seconds, or using hand sanitizer;

  • Refraining from touching their face after having been outside;

  • Sneezing or coughing into their elbow;

  • Practicing “social distancing”— staying indoors, avoiding crowds, and staying 6 feet away from other people if you have to go outside.

Delivery Protocol

Volunteers make as little contact with their recipients as possible during deliveries:

  • Volunteers place items at the door and either knock/ring the doorbell, or call the recipient, to inform them that their order has been delivered.

  • If items have not already been paid for, payment to the volunteer will be exchanged either via cash, check, or a digital payment app such as Paypal, Venmo, Zelle, or Cash App. If you need help setting up one of these apps, please let us know, one of our volunteers would be happy to assist you over the phone.
